The Winter Haven Youth Soccer Association’s Kicks U-15 girls took first at the Florida Youth Soccer Association’s Region C Cup Division 2 Finals March 19-20.
Featuring players born in 2000 and 2001, the team knocked off Port Charlotte Premier 3-1 at the Lake Myrtle Complex in Auburndale to take the title. The teams met twice during the regular season and twice in the postseason.
The Kicks won all four matches.
After going undefeated in the tournament — outscoring its opposition 17-3 in those games — the team won in penalty kicks against Oldsmar Soccer Club in the tournament semifinals.
The Kicks will play in the USA Division I league next fall and will take part in the final round at the FYSA’s InsterState Cup Championships next month in Lakewood Ranch. That event, held April 16-17, will feature South Florida teams.
Members of the Kicks include Stacey Adams, Meghan Brady, Brazil Clark, Versailles Clark, Aliyah Gomez, Cheyenne Hodges, Mackenzie Holland, Sarah MacPhee, Peyton Moxam, Ansley Nicolaus, Haley Nunez, Kaitlin Obrero, Leanne Paquin, Caiti Simmons, Abigail Sophia and Isabella Spruell.
The team is coached by Michael McMillen and assisted by Deanna Moxam.
