Blue Point Brewing Company
Sour Cherry Imperial
The addition of sour cherries enhances this Russian Imperial Stout from New York's Blue Point Brewing Company, based on Long Island.
Stouts of this style tend to be strong, rich and complex, more appropriate for sipping. Blue Point's Sour Cherry Imperial Stout dials back on the density, and lightens the complexity.
The result is a brew that's flavorful and refreshing for a beer of this strength — 9.2 percent alcohol by volume. Expect subtle flavors of mocha and cherry with a whiff of smoke. Contrary to its title, the beer isn't at all sour, but this limited release from Blue Point does deliver on the tart, cherry flavor.
