Time to Paint Your Heart Out

Paint Your Heart Out Lakeland's annual Paint Day is March 16. The organization provides volunteers and supplies to paint the exterior of homes inhabited by the elderly and/or disabled. Relay For Life of Winter Haven will hold a rummage sale from 7 a.m. to noon today at Polk State College Winter Haven Campus, Student Center, WST126.


American Legion Auxiliary Unit 8 of Winter Haven will hold its annual fashion show from noon to 3 p.m. today at the post home on Avenue M. Lunch will be served at noon followed by fashions by Echo Consignment Shop. Tickets are $5. Call Nancy Fosie, 294-1666.


The third annual Lakeside Adventures "Gator Crawl" is scheduled for March 9 at Old Man Frank's, 1005 S. Lake Howard Drive, Winter Haven. A barbecue starts at noon with gator ribs, chicken, swamp cabbage and alligator gumbo. X-treme Ski Show is at 3 p.m. There will be music, raffles and bar games all day at Old Man Frank's, McGillicuddy's and Caribbean Bay. A Lakeland father and his three sons will be kiteboarding 50 miles from Miami to the Florida Keys in March. Their mission is to raise $50,000 to build a self-sustaining home in Tanzania, Africa, for 12 orphaned children. The team is seeking sponsorships. A $15 contribution will purchase one square foot of the home. Visit


Girl Scout cookies will be on sale in cookie booths at businesses through March 17. Visit for the Cookie Locator. Cookies are $3.50 a box; cash and checks are accepted at all booths.
